Biography of Michael Jackson - 1080 Words

Michael Jackson Michael Jackson was born April 29, 1958 to a working class family in Gary, Indiana. His parents, Joe and Katherine had ten children and Michael Jackson was the eighth child. The Jackson family was very musically inclined. Michael’s father played guitar in a small RB band, his mother sang frequently, and his brothers often sand and played with their father’s guitar (Biography on Michael Jackson, 2002). Michael Jackson was no exception to his family’s musical ability. At the age of four Joe Jackson pushed his children to start a band. This band was called the Jackson 5. The Jackson 5 quickly rose to fame. The band initially started playing in local talent shows and then landed a contract with Motown records†¦show more content†¦Dangerous was an album of New Jack Swing which was a combination of RB, Jazz, and funk. This was the most sold New Jack Swing record of all time. Dangerous not only was significant because of the record it broke but all profits that were earned form the tour were donated to different charities including the charity that Michael Jackson ran (Michael Jackson Biography 2014). Though after these successful times, Michael Jackson’s public opinion turned negative. In 1993, Michael Jackson was accused of sexual abuse by a thirteen year old boy that Jackson had known. After a year of these allegations Jackson settled with the family for approximately twenty million dollars, then the police investigation was dropped (Michael Jackson, 2011) and nothing more with the case was brought up. Not only did the sexual abuse allegations change the public’s opinion of Jackson but his changing appearance turned people off as well. Michael Jackson began changing his appearance with plastic surgery and taking drugs to make his skin white. Michael Jackson was obsessed with the fact that he was aging and wanted to do all he could to stop the process from appearing on his body (Rolling Stones Articles, 2009). Michael Jackson did not oblige to these rumors he simply blamed his skin changing from black to white on a skin pigmentation deficiency.
